Gamma Mind Enhancement Experiment - Days 26-30

October 19th, 2007

Mind enhancement experimentThose of you who have been following the Gamma mind enhancement experiment probably noticed the long delay between the end of the experiment and this post about the results from the final week of the experiment. The reason for the delay is because I wanted to observe whether or not the results lasted after I stopped using the CD, and, if so, how long after the end of the experiment they lasted.

Regarding whether or not the effects lasted beyond the end of the experiment, the answer to that question is yes and no. Some of the results lasted and others didn't. As I described in the report from Days 8 through 11 of the experiment, it's common for some effects to occur right away while others take time, and also common for some effects to occur only while using the technology and for other effects to last long after the final listening session is over.

Some of the effects occurred only while I was listening to the CD and faded within a few hours or less after the end of the listening session. For example, the tingling in the forehead, which I first described in the report from Day 1 of the experiment, occurred only during the 30-minute listening sessions and gradually faded away within a few hours after each session ended.

The pulsing sensation I described early in the experiment, which I observed during many but not all of the listening sessions, also occurred only while I was listening to the CD and faded away quickly after the end of the session.

The extremely intense dreams — which I reported on Day 1 and mentioned in the reports for most of the other days — occurred the first night and each subsequent night during the 30-day period of the experiment. They continued to occur every night until a few days after the experiment ended.

After that, I experienced a brief dream slump. Instead of leveling off, the level of intensity dropped off to almost nothing. My dream recall also seemed much weaker than usual and there were mornings when I could barely remember any dream details at all. The dream slump lasted a few weeks before things finally returned to normal. I suspect all the overly intense dreaming during the experiment wore me out and my "dream battery" needed time to recharge.

Other results have lasted beyond the timeframe of the experiment. In the reports for Days 12 through 18 and Days 19 through 25, I described my observations and speculated about how the Gamma technology might be affecting other practices such as meditation and Qigong. Those effects seem to have perpetuated well beyond the end of the experiment.

I plan to conduct a new experiment with the same technology when I return from my vacation on October 30th.

Those are very interesting results. Especially the effect that do not not wear off (immediately). This has always been one of my concerns, whether the good effect I get from some of these tools might go away.

I also see that you recommend the 'insight CD', what are your experiences with this CD? I was a bit reluctant to buy it.

      Hi Olivier,

I'm the person who developed the technology used on the Insight CD, so my opinion probably would be considered biased. :-) But, the reason I developed it in the first place was for my own personal use (to eliminate my insomnia and to help with meditation and other things), not to produce a product for sale. It was only after the technology worked so well for me that I decided to form a company to do more research. Some of that research resulted in the production of the Insight CD and we began to offer it for sale to the public. After more research, we were able to use the technology on other CDs for different applications (focusing and concentration, help for ADD/ADHD, etc), and the Gamma technology mentioned in this article is what we're currently researching and testing.

We constantly receive positive feedback from customers, doctors, therapists, etc., about how well the Insight CD works. I can personally say I *know* it works (I still use it frequently, and other people in my family also use it), but I try not to comment about it too much here since I don't want it to come across as marketing. This blog is a place for my personal musings, not a company-sponsored blog, so I try to keep the two aspects separate whenever possible but they sometimes overlap, especially when I'm testing new versions of the technology for various purposes.

      Thanks for the quick reply.

I got one more question though. And I apologize for mentioning the competitors, but I used Holosync in the past and I never felt like 'meditating'. Not like for instance with plain old 'concentration on the beath' I got good personal result though.

So what is your opinion on this? Do you often experience altered states (deep levels of meditation) with this kind of audio? Is it strongly person dependant or do your custumors get overal good results?

      Thanks a lot.

      Hi Olivier,

I can relate to your not feeling like meditating with a traditional Follow The Breath technique or other similar techniques. I like to experiment with different types of meditation, and I think everyone who is interested in meditation should do that because not every meditation technique works well for every person. Some people prefer breathing meditations, while other people have better luck with a meditation technique that involves visualization, and other people might prefer a moving meditation like Qigong or a walking meditation.

As far as the Insight CD is concerned, I've experienced very intense altered states while listening to it, though not during every single listening session. Most people experience a very deep state of meditation while listening to it. Many of the results are very consistent from person to person (i.e., reduced stress, improved sleep, deeper self-awareness and personal insight, etc.). The deeper self-awareness is a big factor because it can help in so many areas of life.

Some people report stronger results than others, but it also depends on what the person's life was like before he/she started using the CD. For example, if one person had a huge amount of stress and another person had only minor stress in his/her life before using the CD, the person who had a huge amount of stress will probably report noticing more of a reduction in stress. It's very rare that we hear feedback from a customer who didn't experience any results. Nearly every person experiences a whole range of results. We offer a money-back guarantee but less than one in a thousand CDs is returned to us.

If you'd like to hear more about the difference between the technology on the Insight CD and the technology used in Holosync, Synchronicity, and other programs, I'd be happy to answer any questions via email. I've tried those programs (along with many others) so I can give you info about the technical differences but also about my experiences with each product.
